Start
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: But deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace; The Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou amongst women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried: he descended into hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven; sitteth at the right hand of God the Father almighty: from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins. The resurrection of the body. And life everlasting. Amen.
V. O Lord, open thou my lips.
R. And my mouth shall declare thy praise.
V. O God, come to my assistance;
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Alleluia.

Ant. Surrexit Dominus vere * Alleluia.
Quóniam Deus magnus Dóminus, et Rex magnus super omnes deos, quóniam non repéllet Dóminus plebem suam: quia in manu ejus sunt omnes fines terræ, et altitúdines móntium ipse cónspicit.
Ant. Alleluia.

Invitatory {Antiphona from the Psalter for the season of the Church year}
Ant. The Lord is risen indeed, * alleluia.
Ant. The Lord is risen indeed, * alleluia.
Come let us praise the Lord with joy: let us joyfully sing to God our saviour. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and make a joyful noise to him with psalms.
Ant. The Lord is risen indeed, * alleluia.
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. For in his hand are all the ends of the earth: and the heights of the mountains are his.
Ant. alleluia.
For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. (genuflect) Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us: For he is the Lord our God: and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
Ant. The Lord is risen indeed, * alleluia.
Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts: As in the provocation, according to the day of temptation in the wilderness: where your fathers tempted me, they proved me, and saw my works.
Ant. alleluia.
Forty years long was I offended with that generation, and I said: These always err in heart. And these men have not known my ways: so I swore in my wrath that they shall not enter into my rest.
Ant. The Lord is risen indeed, * alleluia.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Ant. alleluia.

Hymnus {ex Psalterio secundum temporum}
Rex sempiterne Cælitum,
Rerum Creator ómnium,
Æqualis ante sæcula
Semper Parénti Fílius:

Nascénte qui mundo faber
Imaginem vultus tui
Tradens Adamo, nóbilem
Limo jugásti spíritum.

Cum livor et fraus dæmonis
Fœdasset humanum genus:
Tu, carne amíctus, perditam
Formam reformas artifex.

Qui, natus olim e Vírgine,
Nunc e sepúlcro nasceris,
Tecúmque nos a mórtuis
Jubes sepúltos surgere.

Qui, pastor æternus, gregem
Aqua lavas baptísmatis:
Hæc est lavacrum méntium:
Hæc est sepúlcrum criminum.

Nobis diu qui debitæ
Redémptor affixus cruci,
Nostræ dedísti prodigus
Pretium salútis sánguinem.

Ut sis perenne méntibus
Paschale, Jesu, gáudium,
A morte dira criminum
Vitæ renatos libera.

Deo Patri sit gloria,
Et Fílio, qui a mórtuis
Surréxit, ac Paraclito,
In sempiterna sæcula.
Amen.
Hymn {from the Psalter for the season of the Church year}
O thou, the heavens' eternal King,
Creator, unto thee we sing,
With God the Father ever One,
Co-equal, co-eternal Son.

Thy hand, when first the world began,
Made in thine own pure image man,
And linked to Adam, sprung from earth,
A living soul of heavenly birth.

And when by craft the envious foe
Had marred thy noblest work below,
Clothed in our flesh, thou didst restore
The image thou hadst made before.

Once wast thou born of Mary's womb;
And now, new-born from out the tomb,
O Christ, thou bidd'st us rise with thee
From death to immortality.

Eternal Shepherd, thou dost lave
Thy flock in pure baptismal wave,
That mystic bath, that grave of sin,
Where ransomed souls new life begin.

Redeemer, thou for us didst deign
To hang upon the Cross of pain,
And give for us the lavish price
Of thine own blood in sacrifice.

Grant, Lord, in thee each faithful mind
Unceasing paschal joy may find;
And from the death of sin set free
Souls newly born to life by thee.

To thee, once dead, who now dost live,
All glory, Lord, thy people give,
Whom, with the Father, we adore,
And Holy Ghost forevermore.
Amen.

34:16 Et advérsum me lætáti sunt, et convenérunt: * congregáta sunt super me flagélla, et ignorávi.
34:17 Dissipáti sunt, nec compúncti, tentavérunt me, subsannavérunt me subsannatióne: * frenduérunt super me déntibus suis.

34:19 Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: * who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
34:20 For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; * and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.
34:21 And they opened their mouth wide against me; * they said: Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.
34:22 Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent: * O Lord, depart not from me.

Lectio 1
De Actibus Apostolorum.
Acts 17:22-27

V. Sicut diléxit me Pater, et ego dilexi vos.
R. Qui manet in me, et ego in eo, hic fert fructum multum, allelúja, allelúja.

V. Grant, Lord, a blessing.
Benediction. May the Eternal Father bless us with an eternal blessing. Amen.

Lesson from the Acts of Apostles
Acts 17:22-27
22 But Paul standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious.
23 For passing by, and seeing your idols, I found an altar also, on which was written: To the unknown God. What therefore you worship, without knowing it, that I preach to you:
24 God, who made the world, and all things therein; he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is he served with men's hands, as though he needed any thing; seeing it is he who giveth to all life, and breath, and all things:
26 And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times, and the limits of their habitation.
27 That they should seek God, if happily they may feel after him or find him, although he be not far from every one of us:
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

R. I am the True Vine, and ye are the branches;
* He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, alleluia, alleluia.
V. As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you.
R. He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, alleluia, alleluia.
V. Jube, domne, benedicere.
Benedictio. Unigenitus Dei Filius nos benedicere et adjuvare dignetur. Amen.

Lectio 2
Acts 17:28-33

R. Surgens Jesus Dóminus noster, stans in médio discipulórum suórum, dixit:
* Pax vobis, allelúja: gavísi sunt discípuli viso Dómino, allelúja.
V. Una ergo sabbatórum, cum fores essent clausæ, ubi erant discípuli congregáti, venit Jesus, et stetit in medio eórum, et dixit eis.
R. Pax vobis, allelúja: gavísi sunt discípuli viso Dómino, allelúja.
V. Grant, Lord, a blessing.
Benediction. May the Son, the Sole-begotten, mercifully bless and keep us. Amen.

Reading 2
Acts 17:28-33
28 For in him we live, and move, and are; as some also of your own poets said: For we are also his offspring.
29 Being therefore the offspring of God, we must not suppose the divinity to be like unto gold, or silver, or stone, the graving of art, and device of man.
30 And God indeed having winked at the times of this ignorance, now declareth unto men, that all should every where do penance.
31 Because he hath appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in equity, by the man whom he hath appointed; giving faith to all, by raising him up from the dead.
32 And when they had heard of the resurrection of the dead, some indeed mocked, but others said: We will hear thee again concerning this matter.
33 So Paul went out from among them.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

R. After that our Lord Jesus was risen again, He came and stood in the midst of His disciples, and said unto them:
* Peace be unto you, alleluia. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord, alleluia.
V. The first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, came Jesus, and stood in the midst, and said unto them:
R. Peace be unto you, alleluia. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord, alleluia.
V. Jube, domne, benedicere.
Benedictio. Spiritus Sancti gratia illuminet sensus et corda nostra. Amen.

Acts 17:34; 18:1-4

* Itaque epulémur in Dómino, allelúja.
R. Itaque epulémur in Dómino, allelúja.
V. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
R. Itaque epulémur in Dómino, allelúja.
V. Grant, Lord, a blessing.
Benediction. May the grace of the Holy Spirit enlighten all our hearts and minds. Amen.

Reading 3
Acts 17:34, 18:1-4
34 But certain men adhering to him, did believe; among whom was also Dionysius, the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
1 After these things, departing from Athens, he came to Corinth.
2 And finding a certain Jew, named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with Priscilla his wife, (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome,) he came to them.
3 And because he was of the same trade, he remained with them, and wrought; (now they were tentmakers by trade.)
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, bringing in the name of the Lord Jesus; and he persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

R. Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be new dough: for even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:
* Therefore let us keep the Feast, in the Lord, alleluia.
V. He died for our offences, and rose again for our justification.
R. Therefore let us keep the Feast, in the Lord, alleluia.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. Therefore let us keep the Feast, in the Lord, alleluia.

Psalm 36(1-15) [4]
36:1 Be not emulous of evildoers; * nor envy them that work iniquity.
36:2 For they shall shortly wither away as grass, * and as the green herbs shall quickly fall.
36:3 Trust in the Lord, and do good, * and dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed with its riches.
36:4 Delight in the Lord, * and he will give thee the requests of thy heart.
36:5 Commit thy way to the Lord, and trust in him, * and he will do it.
36:6 And he will bring forth thy justice as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday: * be subject to the Lord and pray to him.
36:7 Envy not the man who prospereth in his way; * the man who doth unjust things.
36:8 Cease from anger, and leave rage; * have no emulation to do evil.
36:9 For the evildoers shall be cut off: * but they that wait upon the Lord shall inherit the land.
36:10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: * and thou shalt seek his place, and shalt not find it.
36:11 But the meek shall inherit the land, * and shall delight in abundance of peace.
36:12 The sinner shall watch the just man: * and shall gnash upon him with his teeth.
36:13 But the Lord shall laugh at him: * for he foreseeth that his day shall come.
36:14 The wicked have drawn out the sword: * they have bent their bow.
36:15 To cast down the poor and needy, * to kill the upright of heart.
36:15 Let their sword enter into their own hearts, * and let their bow be broken.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalmus 36(16-29) [5]

Psalm 36(16-29) [5]
36:16 Better is a little to the just, * than the great riches of the wicked.
36:17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken in pieces; * but the Lord strengtheneth the just.
36:18 The Lord knoweth the days of the undefiled; * and their inheritance shall be for ever.
36:19 They shall not be confounded in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be filled, * because the wicked shall perish.
36:20 And the enemies of the Lord, presently after they shall be honoured and exalted, * shall come to nothing and vanish like smoke.
36:21 The sinner shall borrow, and not pay again; * but the just sheweth mercy and shall give.
36:22 For such as bless him shall inherit the land: * but such as curse him shall perish.
36:23 With the Lord shall the steps of a man be directed, * and he shall like well his way.
36:24 When he shall fall he shall not be bruised, * for the Lord putteth his hand under him.
36:25 I have been young, and now am old; * and I have not seen the just forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread.
36:26 He sheweth mercy, and lendeth all the day long; * and his seed shall be in blessing.
36:27 Decline from evil and do good, * and dwell for ever and ever.
36:28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and will not forsake his saints: * they shall be preserved for ever.
36:29 The unjust shall be punished, * and the seed of the wicked shall perish.
36:29 But the just shall inherit the land, * and shall dwell therein for evermore.

Psalmus 36(30-40) [6]

Psalm 36(30-40) [6]
36:30 The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom: * and his tongue shall speak judgment.
36:31 The law of his God is in his heart, * and his steps shall not be supplanted.
36:32 The wicked watcheth the just man, * and seeketh to put him to death.
36:33 But the Lord will not leave him in his hands; * nor condemn him when he shall be judged.
36:34 Expect the Lord and keep his way: and he will exalt thee to inherit the land: * when the sinners shall perish thou shalt see.
36:35 I have seen the wicked highly exalted, * and lifted up like the cedars of Libanus.
36:36 And I passed by, and lo, he was not: * and I sought him and his place was not found.
36:37 Keep innocence, and behold justice: * for there are remnants for the peaceable man.
36:38 But the unjust shall be destroyed together: * the remnants of the wicked shall perish.
36:39 But the salvation of the just is from the Lord, * and he is their protector in the time of trouble.

Faithful was born of the respectable family of Rey in the town of Sigmaringen in Swabia, in the year of our Lord 1577. From his childhood he was adorned with many bright gifts of nature and grace. Intellectually distinguished, and assisted by all the advantages of education, he took at Fribourg the degrees of Philosophy and of Civil and Canon Law, and it was while engaged in these studies, that he began to strive after the height of perfection in the school of Christ, to which end he earnestly trained himself in all the exercises of godliness. He ceased not to exhort to Christian godliness, both by his words and works, the noblemen who made him their companion, and who were drawn from the chief families of divers parts of Europe. While on his travels, he was careful to mortify the lusts of the flesh by frequent austerities, and so to get the command of himself, that he was never seen under any circumstances to be moved to anger. He was a zealous champion of law and justice, and when he returned into Germany, he won a most distinguished name in his profession as an advocate. After a while, however, in view of the dangers which beset him at the Bar, he determined to enter on a path safer as regarded his eternal salvation, and, in obedience to an inward call from above, he sought admission into the Seraphic Order, among the Capuchin Friars Minor, in the year 1612.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

Reading 5
After he had obtained his holy wish, he showed himself even in his noviceship a singular despiser of the world and of himself, and still more so when with great spiritual joy he had made his solemn profession to the Lord. By his observance of the Rule, he became the wonder and the example of all. He gave himself chiefly to prayer and sacred learning, but he excelled, by a remarkable grace, in the ministry of the Word, and thereby not only stirred up the Catholics to bring forth more fruit, but also drew misbelievers to the knowledge of the truth. He was set at the head of communities of Friars in divers places, and discharged the duty so laid upon him with great praise for prudence, justice, meekness, wisdom, and lowliness. He was animated by a vehement love of the strictest poverty, and cleansed the convent of whatever was not altogether needful. While he pursued himself with an healthy hatred, and most stern fastings, watchings, and scourgings, he showed to all others a love like the love of a mother for her sons. When a contagious fever made horrid ravages among the Austrian soldiers, he gave himself up with his whole soul to unwearied offices of tenderness toward the helpless sick. In allaying quarrels and relieving the temporal distress of his neighbour, he bore himself with such wisdom and zeal as to earn the name of Father of his country.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.

Reading 6
Tenderly and warmly loved the maiden Mother of God and her Rosary, and he besought God under the patronage of many of His holy servants, but especially under that of the same blessed Mother, to vouchsafe to let him offer his life and his blood together for the sake of the Catholic faith. This burning desire came upon him more and more, day by day, as he celebrated with great ardour of spirit the Holy Liturgy and by the unexpected Providence of God it came to pass that this brave He was a travelling tutor. soldier of Christ was chosen President of the Missions which the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith had at that time just founded for the Grisons. He accepted this hard task with a willing and joyful heart, and discharged it with such zeal, that many heretics were turned to the orthodox faith, and great hope was engendered that the whole of that people would return to the peace of Christ and His Church. Faithful, who was gifted with the spirit of Prophecy, often foretold the great woes which afterwards came upon the Grisons, and that he himself would be murdered by the heretics. At last, on a certain 23rd of April, some of the heretics, who pretended to be converted, entreated him to come and preach the following day at the Church of a place which is called Sevis. He complied with the treacherous invitation, but, as he knew that plots were being laid against him, he had made himself ready beforehand for the last conflict. On the 24th day of April, in the year 1622, he went to Sevis, and began to preach, but his discourse was interrupted by a riot, and on his way back, he was [met by a party of Calvinists, and) brutally murdered. By this glorious death, which he suffered with a willing and cheerful heart, he offered to God in his own blood the first-fruits of martyrdom from the above - mentioned Congregation. God hath since glorified him by many signs and wonders, especially at Coire and Feldkirchen, where his reliques are kept with much popular veneration.

Psalm 38 [9]
38:1 I said: I will take heed to my ways: * that I sin not with my tongue.
38:2 I have set guard to my mouth, * when the sinner stood against me.
38:3 I was dumb, and was humbled, and kept silence from good things: * and my sorrow was renewed.
38:4 My heart grew hot within me: * and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.
38:5 I spoke with my tongue: * O Lord, make me know my end.
38:6 And what is the number of my days: * that I may know what is wanting to me.
38:7 Behold thou hast made my days measurable: * and my substance is as nothing before thee.
38:8 And indeed all things are vanity: * every man living.
38:9 Surely man passeth as an image: * yea, and he is disquieted in vain.
38:10 He storeth up: * and he knoweth not for whom he shall gather these things.
38:11 And now what is my hope? Is it not the Lord? * And my substance is with thee.
38:12 Deliver thou me from all my iniquities: * thou hast made me a reproach to the fool.
38:13 I was dumb, and I opened not my mouth, because thou hast done it: * remove thy scourges from me.
38:14 The strength of thy hand hath made me faint in rebukes: * thou hast corrected man for iniquity.
38:15 And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider: * surely in vain is any man disquieted.
38:16 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication: * give ear to my tears.
38:17 Be not silent: for I am a stranger with thee, * and a sojourner as all my fathers were.
38:18 O forgive me, that I may be refreshed, before I go hence, * and be no more.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

Reading 7
From the Holy Gospel according to John
John 15:1-7
At that time Jesus said unto His disciples I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman. And so on.

Homily by St Austin, Bishop of Hippo.
Tract 80, on John.
Dearly beloved brethren, this passage of the Gospel, wherein the Lord saith that He is the vine, and that His disciples are the branches, is to be taken in that sense wherein it is also said, that He is the Head of the Church, and that we are the members of Him Who is the Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. The vine and his branches are of one and the same nature. Therefore, seeing that He was God, of which nature we are not, He was made man, to the end that He might have in Himself this vine, that is, the manhood, whereof we men can be made branches.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

R. I am the true vine, ye are the branches.
* He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit. Alleluia, Alleluia.
V. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you.
R. He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit. Alleluia, Alleluia.
V. Jube, domne, benedicere.
Benedictio.

V. Candidiores nive, nitidiores lacte, rubicundiores ebore antiquo, sapphiro pulchriores.
R. Et sicut lac coagulati sunt, alleluia, alleluia.
V. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
R. Et sicut lac coagulati sunt, alleluia, alleluia.
V. Grant, Lord, a blessing.
Benediction. He whose feast-day we are keeping, be our Advocate with God. Amen.

Reading 8
Saith He "I am the true vine"? As touching this word "true," hath He not here regard to that other parable of a vine, the like figure whereto He doth here apply to Himself? Here is He called a vine, not plainly, but in parable, as also He is called elsewhere a sheep, a lamb, a lion, a rock, a corner-stone, and other things of the like kind. But these things are in themselves that which they seem to be, albeit He is called by their names, not plainly, but in a parable, and herein are they different from that vine, whereof in this place He taketh on Him the name. For when He saith "I am the true vine," doth He not make distinction between Himself, and that which indeed seemed to be a vine, but to which it is said "How art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto Me?" For by what title shall that plant be called other than a false vine, whereto they looked that she should bring forth grapes, and she brought forth thorns.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

R. Her Nazarites are become pure, alleluia; they reflect the glory of God, alleluia;
* They are whiter than milk, alleluia, alleluia.
V. They are purer than snow, they are whiter than milk, they are more ruddy in body than coral, their polishing is of sapphire.
R. They are whiter than milk, alleluia, alleluia.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. They are whiter than milk, alleluia, alleluia.
V. Jube, domne, benedicere.
Benedictio. Ad societatem civium supernorum perducat nos Rex Angelorum. Amen.

Lectio 9

Reading 9
Jesus saith "I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman." Is the vine one with the husbandman These words then are to be taken in that sense wherein He also saith "My Father is greater than I." But again, in regard to those words "I and the Father are one," and again "and My Father is the husbandman," we understand that They are not the vine and the husbandman, after the manner of a vine, and the husbandman that from without doth care for and keep it, but after the manner of a vine and Him That from within doth make it to bring forth fruit. For "neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth but God that giveth the increase." But Christ is God, for "the Word was God." Therefore He and the Father are one and, albeit "the Word was made flesh," which, before, He was not, He ceased not to be still That Which He was.
V. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.
R. Thanks be to God.

Te Deum
We praise thee, O God, * we acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
All the earth doth worship thee, * the Father everlasting.
To thee all Angels cry aloud, * the Heavens, and all the Powers therein.
To thee Cherubim and Seraphim * continually do cry.

(bow head) Holy, Holy, Holy * Lord God of Sabaoth;

Heaven and earth are full * of the Majesty of thy glory.
The glorious company of the Apostles * praise thee.
The goodly fellowship of the Prophets * praise thee.
The noble army of Martyrs * praise thee.
The holy Church throughout all the world * doth acknowledge thee;
The Father, * of an infinite Majesty.
Thine honourable, true, * and only Son;
Also the Holy Ghost, * the Comforter.
Thou art the King of Glory, * O Christ.
Thou art the everlasting * Son of the Father.

During the following verse all make a profound bow:
When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man, * thou didst not abhor the Virgin's womb.
When thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death, * thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers.
Thou sittest at the right hand of God, * in the glory of the Father.
We believe that thou shalt come * to be our Judge.

Kneel for the following verse
We therefore pray thee, help thy servants, * whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious Blood.

Make them to be numbered with thy Saints, * in glory everlasting.
O Lord, save thy people, * and bless thine heritage.
Govern them, * and lift them up for ever.
Day by day * we magnify thee;

During the following verse, by local custom, all make a profound bow.
And we worship thy Name * ever, world without end.
Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us * this day without sin.
O Lord, have mercy upon us, * have mercy upon us.
O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us, * as our trust is in thee.
O Lord, in thee have I trusted, * let me never be confounded.
Reliqua omittuntur, nisi Laudes separandae sint.
