Hymnus {Doxology: NatT}
Iam lucis orto sídere,
Deum precémur súpplices,
Ut in diúrnis áctibus
Nos servet a nocéntibus.

Linguam refrénans témperet,
Ne litis horror ínsonet:
Visum fovéndo cóntegat,
Ne vanitátes háuriat.

Sint pura cordis íntima,
Absístat et vecórdia;
Carnis terat supérbiam
Potus cibíque párcitas.

Ut, cum dies abscésserit,
Noctémque sors redúxerit,
Mundi per abstinéntiam
Ipsi canámus glóriam.

Glória tibi, Dómine,
Qui natus es de Vírgine,
Cum Patre, et Sancto Spíritu,
In sempitérna sǽcula.
Amen.
Hymn {Doxology: NatT}
Now in the sun's new dawning ray,
Lowly of heart, our God we pray
That he from harm may keep us free
In all the deeds this day shall see.

May fear of him our tongues restrain,
Lest strife unguarded speech should stain:
His favouring care our guardian be,
Lest our eyes feed on vanity.

May every heart be pure from sin
And folly find no place therein:
Scant need of food, excess denied,
Wear down in us the body's pride.

That when the light of day is gone,
And night in course shall follow on.
We, free from cares the world affords,
May chant the praise that is our Lord's.

All honor, praise and glory be,
O Jesu, Virgin-Born, to thee;
All glory, as is ever meet,
To Father, and to Paraclete.
Amen
Psalmi {ex Proprio de Tempore}
Ant. Dum esset Rex * in accúbitu suo, nardus mea dedit odórem suavitátis.
Psalmus 17(26-51) [1]
17:30 Quóniam in te erípiar a tentatióne, * et in Deo meo transgrédiar murum.
17:36 Et disciplína tua corréxit me in finem: * et disciplína tua ipsa me docébit.
17:40 Et præcinxísti me virtúte ad bellum: * et supplantásti insurgéntes in me subtus me.
17:44 Erípies me de contradictiónibus pópuli: * constítues me in caput géntium.
17:49 Et ab insurgéntibus in me exaltábis me: * a viro iníquo erípies me.
℣. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℟. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Psalms {from the Proper of the season}
Ant. While the King sitteth at his table, * my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
Psalm 17(26-51) [1]
17:26 With the holy thou wilt be holy; * and with the innocent man thou wilt be innocent:
17:27 And with the elect thou wilt be elect: * and with the perverse thou wilt be perverted.
17:28 For thou wilt save the humble people; * but wilt bring down the eyes of the proud.
17:29 For thou lightest my lamp, O Lord: * O my God, enlighten my darkness.
17:30 For by thee I shall be delivered from temptation; * and through my God I shall go over a wall.
17:31 As for my God, his way is undefiled: the words of the Lord are fire-tried: * he is the protector of all that trust in him.
17:32 For who is God but the Lord? * or who is God but our God?
17:33 God, who hath girt me with strength; * and made my way blameless.
17:34 Who hath made my feet like the feet of harts: * and who setteth me upon high places.
17:35 Who teacheth my hands to war: * and thou hast made my arms like a brazen bow.
17:36 Thou hast given me the protection of thy salvation: * and thy right hand hath held me up:
17:36 And thy discipline hath corrected me unto the end: * and thy discipline, the same shall teach me.
17:37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; * and my feet are not weakened.
17:38 I will pursue after my enemies, and overtake them: * and I will not turn again till they are consumed.
17:39 I will break them, and they shall not be able to stand: * they shall fall under my feet.
17:40 And thou hast girded me with strength unto battle; * and hast subdued under me them that rose up against me.
17:41 And thou hast made my enemies turn their back upon me, * and hast destroyed them that hated me.
17:42 They cried, but there was none to save them, to the Lord: * but he heard them not.
17:43 And I shall beat them as small as the dust before the wind; * I shall bring them to nought, like the dirt in the streets.
17:44 Thou wilt deliver me from the contradictions of the people; * thou wilt make me head of the Gentiles.
17:45 A people which I knew not, hath served me: * at the hearing of the ear they have obeyed me.
17:46 The children that are strangers have lied to me, * strange children have faded away, and have halted from their paths.
17:47 The Lord liveth, and blessed be my God, * and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
17:48 O God, who avengest me, and subduest the people under me, * my deliverer from my enraged enemies.
17:49 And thou wilt lift me up above them that rise up against me: * from the unjust man thou wilt deliver me.
17:50 Therefore will I give glory to thee, O Lord, among the nations, * and I will sing a psalm to thy name.
17:51 Giving great deliverance to his king, and shewing mercy to David, his anointed: * and to his seed for ever.
℣. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
℟. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalmus 18 [2]
18:10 Timor Dómini sanctus, pérmanens in sǽculum sǽculi: * iudícia Dómini vera, iustificáta in semetípsa.
18:11 Desiderabília super aurum et lápidem pretiósum multum: * et dulcióra super mel et favum.
18:12 Étenim servus tuus custódit ea, * in custodiéndis illis retribútio multa.
℣. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℟. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Psalm 18 [2]
18:2 The heavens shew forth the glory of God, * and the firmament declareth the work of his hands.
18:3 Day to day uttereth speech, * and night to night sheweth knowledge.
18:4 There are no speeches nor languages, * where their voices are not heard.
18:5 Their sound hath gone forth into all the earth: * and their words unto the ends of the world.
18:6 He hath set his tabernacle in the sun: * and he, as a bridegroom coming out of his bride chamber,
18:6 Hath rejoiced as a giant to run the way: * his going out is from the end of heaven,
18:7 And his circuit even to the end thereof: * and there is no one that can hide himself from his heat.
18:8 The law of the Lord is unspotted, converting souls: * the testimony of the Lord is faithful, giving wisdom to little ones.
18:9 The justices of the Lord are right, rejoicing hearts: * the commandment of the Lord is lightsome, enlightening the eyes.
18:10 The fear of the Lord is holy, enduring for ever and ever: * the judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves.
18:11 More to be desired than gold and many precious stones: * and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
18:12 For thy servant keepeth them, * and in keeping them there is a great reward.
18:13 Who can understand sins? from my secret ones cleanse me, O Lord: * and from those of others spare thy servant.
18:14 If they shall have no dominion over me, then shall I be without spot: * and I shall be cleansed from the greatest sin.
18:15 And the words of my mouth shall be such as may please: * and the meditation of my heart always in thy sight.
18:15 O Lord, my helper, * and my redeemer.
℣. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
℟. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalmus 19 [3]
℣. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
℟. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Ant. Dum esset Rex in accúbitu suo, nardus mea dedit odórem suavitátis.
Psalm 19 [3]
19:2 May the Lord hear thee in the day of tribulation: * may the name of the God of Jacob protect thee.
19:3 May he send thee help from the sanctuary: * and defend thee out of Sion.
19:4 May he be mindful of all thy sacrifices: * and may thy whole burnt offering be made fat.
19:5 May he give thee according to thy own heart; * and confirm all thy counsels.
19:6 We will rejoice in thy salvation; * and in the name of our God we shall be exalted.
19:7 The Lord fulfil all thy petitions: * now have I known that the Lord hath saved his anointed.
19:7 He will hear him from his holy heaven: * the salvation of his right hand is in powers.
19:8 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: * but we will call upon the name of the Lord, our God.

19:10 O Lord, save the king: * and hear us in the day that we shall call upon thee.

Martyrologium (anticip.)
August 12th 2018, the 1st day of the Moon, were born into the better life:

At Assisi, in Umbria, [in the year 1253], the holy Virgin Clare, the first of the women of the Order of Friars Minors [who are called Poor Clares.] Her life and miracles were famous, and Pope Alexander IV enrolled her name among those of the holy virgins.
At Catania, in Sicily, in the persecution under the Emperors Diocletian and Maximian, the holy Deacon Euplius. He was long put to the torture for confessing the Lord, and at length beheaded, and so received the crown of martyrdom.
At Augsburg, [in the fourth century,] the holy Hilaria, the mother of the blessed martyr Afra. She was watching at her grave when she was taken by persecutors, and for Christ's faith's sake committed to the fire, along with her handmaidens Digna, Euprepia, and Eunomia.
In the same city, upon the same day, [in the fourth century,] there suffered also Quiriacus, Largis, Crescentian, Nimmia, Juliana, and twenty others.
In Syria, the holy martyrs Macarius and Julian.
At Nicomedia, under the Emperor Diocletian, the holy martyrs Count Anicete, his brother Photinus, and many others.
At Civita Castellana, in Tuscany, [under Galerius Maximianus,] the holy martyr Gracilian and the Virgin Felicissima. Because they confessed the faith, their mouths were first bruised with stones, and then they were smitten with the sword, and so received that palm of martyrdom which they had desired.
On the same day, [about the year 730,] the holy martyrs Porcarius, Abbot of the monastery of Lerins, and five hundred monks, crowned with martyrdom, slain by the barbarians for the Catholic faith's sake.
At Milan, the holy Confessor Eusebius, Bishop [of that see.]
At Brescia, holy Herculanus, Bishop [of that see.]
℣. And elsewhere many other holy martyrs, confessors, and holy virgins.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Regula

Regula
The Rule of our Holy Father Benedict. Chapter 58: Concerning the Discipline of Those to Be Received As Brethren

In the case of anyone newly come to essay conversion of life, let not an easy entrance be accorded him; but as says the Apostle: “Prove the spirits, whether they are from God.” Therefore if anyone who comes shall have persevered in knocking for admission and after four or five days shall have been found patiently to bear all the injuries inflicted upon him and the difficulty of gaining entrance and shall be found to persist with his petition, let entrance be granted him and let him be in the guests’ house for a few days. After that, let him be in the novices’ cell where he may meditate and eat and sleep. And let there be deputed to take charge of him, a senior, such an one as is well fitted to win souls, to be solicitous for his welfare and to watch with scrupulous care, whether in very truth he seek God and be solicitous as to the Work of God, obedience and humiliations. Let there be set before him all the hard and the rough things through which lies the way to God; and if he shall have given promise of stability and perseverance let this rule be read right through to him after the lapse of two months and let this be said to him: “Behold the law under which thou dost wish to serve as a faithful soldier; if thou art able to keep it, enter; but if thou art not able, depart free.” If thus far he shall have stood firm, then let him be conducted to the aforenamed novices’ cell and be again tested in all patience; and after the lapse of six months let the rule be re-read to him that he may know upon what he is entering: and if thus far he stand firm, after four months let this same rule again be re-read to him: and if, having deliberated of the matter with himself he shall have promised that he will keep it all and observe everything ordered him, then let him be received into the community, knowing himself to be now established by the law of the rule so that it is not lawful for him from that day onwards to go forth from the monastery, nor to shake free his neck from beneath the yoke of the rule which it was permitted him after such prolonged deliberation either to refuse or to accept.
