Lesson
1 Pet 5:8-9
Brethren: Be sober, be watchful! Your adversary, the devil, prows around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith. Indeed, Lord have mercy on us.
V. Adiutórium nóstrum in nómine Dómini.
R. Qui fecit cælum et terram.
V. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R. Who made heaven and earth.
Examen conscientiæ vel Pater Noster totum secreto.
Pater noster, qui es in cælis, sanctificétur nomen tuum: advéniat regnum tuum: fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra. Panem nostrum cotidiánum da nobis hódie: et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris: et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.
Examination of Conscience or Our Father in secret.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Confiteor Deo omnipotenti, et beáte Maríae semper Vírgini, et beáto Domíníco Patri nostro, et omnibus Sanctis: quia peccavi nimis cogitatione, locutione, opere et omissione, me cupla: precor orare pro me.
Misereatur mei omnipotens Deus, et dimittat mihi omnia peccata mea, liberet me ab omni malo, salvet, et confirmet in omni opere bono, et perducat me ad vitam aeternam. Amen.
I confess to almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Dominic our father, to all the Saints and to you, brethren, that I have sinned exceedingly by thought, word, deed and omission, through my fault: I beseech you to pray for me.
May almighty God have mercy upon you and forgive you all your sins: may he free you from all evil, strengthen and confirm you in every good work, and bring you to life everlasting.
V. Convérte nos ✙︎ Deus, salutáris noster.
R. Et avérte iram tuam a nobis.
V. Deus in adiutórium meum inténde.
R. Dómine, ad adiuvándum me festína.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Allelúia.
V. Revive us now, God our helper!
R. Put an end to your greivance against us.

69:3 Let them be confounded and ashamed * that seek my soul:
69:4 Let them be turned backward, and blush for shame * that desire evils to me:
69:4 Let them be presently turned away blushing for shame * that say to me: ’T is well, ’t is well.
69:5 Let all that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; * and let such as love thy salvation say always: The Lord be magnified.
69:6 But I am needy and poor; * O God, help me.
69:6 Thou art my helper and my deliverer: * O Lord, make no delay.

Te lucis ante términum,
Rerum Creátor, póscimus,
Ut sólita cleméntia
Sis præsul ad custódiam.

Procul recédant sómnia,
Et nóctium phantásmata;
Hostémque nóstrum cómprime,
Ne polluántur córpora.

Per Iesum Christum Dóminum,
Qui tecum in perpétuum
Regnat cum Sancto Spíritu.
Amen.
Psalm 70(1-12) [2]
70:1 In thee, O Lord, I have hoped, let me never be put to confusion: * deliver me in thy justice, and rescue me.
70:2 Incline thy ear unto me, * and save me.
70:3 Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a place of strength: * that thou mayst make me safe.
70:3 For thou art my firmament * and my refuge.
70:4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the sinner, * and out of the hand of the transgressor of the law and of the unjust.
70:5 For thou art my patience, O Lord: * my hope, O Lord, from my youth.
70:6 By thee have I been confirmed from the womb: * from my mother’s womb thou art my protector.
70:7 Of thee shall I continually sing: * I am become unto many as a wonder, but thou art a strong helper.
70:8 Let my mouth be filled with praise, that I may sing thy glory; * thy greatness all the day long.
70:9 Cast me not off in the time of old age: * when my strength shall fail, do not thou forsake me.
70:10 For my enemies have spoken against me; * and they that watched my soul have consulted together,
70:11 Saying: God hath forsaken him: pursue and take him, * for there is none to deliver him.
70:12 O God, be not thou far from me: * O my God, make haste to my help.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

70:17 Thou hast taught me, O God, from my youth: * and till now I will declare thy wonderful works.
70:18 And unto old age and grey hairs: * O God, forsake me not,

70:19 Thy power, and thy justice, O God, even to the highest great things thou hast done: * O God, who is like to thee?

70:21 Thou hast multiplied thy magnificence; * and turning to me thou hast comforted me.
70:22 For I will also confess to thee thy truth with the instruments of psaltery: * O God, I will sing to thee with the harp,

Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray

From all ill dreams defend our eyes,
From nightly fears and fantasies;

That no pollution we may know.

O Father, that we ask be done,
Through Jesus Christ, thine only Son;
Who, with the Holy Ghost and thee,
Doth live and reign eternally.
Amen.
